Converted Barn, Thornton le Dale

We were approached by the owner of this building to develop the existing redundant grade II listed farm buildings into two separate dwellings and to construct a new house elsewhere on the site.

The existing farm buildings had been used for storage for a number of years as the farming operations had ceased much earlier.

They were generally in reasonable condition, but in need of significant repair to stabilise them.

The site lies within the North York Moors National Park and the conservation officer was involved throughout the project to monitor the repair works to the listed building. Both new dwellings are now let on long term leases.
